Me & The Blues

Well I woke up this morning
Blues kickin' me in the head
Well I woke up this morning
Blues kickin' me in the head
"Wake up, My. Johnson
It's time to get out of bed."

I stumbled down to breakfast
But the Blues was waitin' there for me
I stumbled down to breakfast
But the Blues was waitin' there for me
Well, he set my toast on fire
And he spilled all my coffee

I went down to the depot
But I never got there on time
I went down to the depot
But I never got there on time
Boss man says, "You're fired."
And the Blues just sit and smiles

I hurried back to Norfolk
Could not wait to see my wife
I hurried back to Norfolk
Could not wait to see my wife
A note was all she left me
And the Blues says, "It's you and I."

Now I'm sittin' in the parlor
.44 against my head
I'm sittin' in the parlor
.44 against my head
But the Blues won't pull the trigger
Guess I'm gonna have to instead
